EXCLUSIVE Mt DIABLO ride + lunch FOR SvTC MEMBERS
SUNDAY, MARCH 8, 2026, 9AM
Join experienced triathlon coaches, Emma Briggs and Kyle Hamilton, for a guided ride on Mount Diablo.
We will start the ride at Arbolado Park in Walnut Creek, warm-up with a mostly easy 15 mile spin to the base of the mountain and then tackle the 11 mile climb to the very top of Mount Diablo via South Gate Rd. We will descend back to Walnut Creek via North Gate Rd and then refuel afterwards with a delicious lunch prepared by Head Chef Kyle.
This is a 39 mile ride with ~4000ft of climbing and will take 3-4 hours. There is a shorter option which cuts out the last 4.5 miles of climbing if you decide you don’t want to go all the way to the top.
We will give an overview of basic climbing, cornering and descending skills at the start of the ride for those of you with limited experience of this type of riding. The coaches will also provide feedback and advice on these skills during the ride if you want it.
Who is this for?
- If you’re a triathlete who is comfortable riding for three hours who would like to experience this classic Bay Area ride then this is for you.
- If you would like to improve your handling skills on corners and descents then you will benefit from this opportunity to climb and descend on twisty mountain roads with instruction from experienced coaches.
- If you're interested in attending one of our camps then this will give you an opportunity to meet us, to get a taster of our camps and to sample some of Head Chef Kyle’s delicious food!
We will meet at Arbolado Park in Walnut Creek. Exact details will be provided a few days before the ride. You can bring a TT bike or a road bike but if you have both then we recommend a road bike for this route. Your bike will also need appropriate gearing for the climbing. If you are unsure about this please contact us and we will help you to figure it out.
Please bring enough nutrition for 3-4 hours and enough hydration for at least 2-3 hours. There is water available along the route in case you need it.
There will be a $10 fee to cover lunch afterwards.
